Nike is Still Just Doin' It

Nike, with its always-recognizable slogan “just do it,” has dominated the shoe market because of its brand recognition and brand awareness. Now, Nike takes its name a step further with an interactive Web community. Nike+ is not a passive site, nor is it text intensive. It allows for users to associate Nike with not only running shoes, but also the running experience, which Nike is now a part of from beginning to end.

The tutorials guide a user on how to set up the Nike+ system using the iPod censor and receiver. Then the user can sync her iPod with iTunes complete with Nike+ sport mixes. While running, the user can see distance, calories burned, and time on the screen. In the final step, the user can then log runs on the Nike+ Web site in a visual euphoria of charts that track each run. This entire process allows for runners to come back to the site time and again.

Surely, people who already found Nike to be a superior product will like the new addition and those who didn’t prefer Nike now have another reason to look again. And with its truly integrated approach and use of e-mail marketing, Nike allows the user to stay current on upcoming products and events.
